THIS PROJECT TO REPLACE HIGHWAY AND NON-ROAD VEHICLES WITH NEWER, CLEANER VEHICLES WILL REDUCE EMISSIONS OF DIESEL PARTICULATE MATTER AND OTHER POLLUTANTS SUCH AS NITROGEN OXIDES, CARBON MONOXIDE AND HYDROCARBONS.ACTIVITIES:CDPHE WILL CONTINUE TO ADMINISTER A SUB-AWARD PROGRAM WITH CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY FOR THE REGION (CLEER), A COLORADO BASED NON-PROFIT CLEAN ENERGY CONSULTING FIRM, TO FUND COMPETITIVE PROJECTS THAT REDUCE ON- AND NON-ROAD DIESEL ENGINE EMISSIONS IN THE STATE. THIS WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED VIA A COMPETITIVE SOLICITATION WHEREBY PROJECTS ARE RATED BASED ON POTENTIAL EMISSION REDUCTION, HEALTH BENEFIT, LOCATION IN THE STATE AND ANY ANCILLARY BENEFITS. THE PROJECT WILL REDUCE THE EXPOSURE TO AND THE AMOUNT OF POLLUTANTS EMITTED FROM DIESEL ENGINES. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DIESEL ENGINES WILL RESULT IN CLEANER AIR AND LOWER TOXIC EMISSIONS OF DIESEL EXHAUST. INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE THOSE THAT RESIDE, WORK OR PLAY NEARBY WHERE THE FLEETS ARE OPERATING.
