ACTIVITIES INCLUDE IMPROVEMENTS OF WATER SYSTEMS' INFRASTRUCTURE, INSTALLING OR REPLACING TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION MAINS TO PREVENT WATER LOSS, AND UPGRADING OR REHABILITATING TREATMENT/DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM COMPONENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PUMPING/STORAGE FACILITIES NEEDED TO ASSIST DRINKING WATER SYSTEMS. DIRECT BENEFICIARIES OF THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT INCLUDE RESIDENTS OF NEW YORK.ACTIVITIES:THE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE THE REHABILITATION OF THE FORMER SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT FROM A DIATOMACEOUS EARTH FILTRATION SYSTEM TO A MODERN PACKAGED FILTRATION SYSTEM. THIS CHANGE WILL ELIMINATE THE ELEVATED IRON CONCENTRATIONS IN THE SYSTEM FROM THE TWO NEW WELLS WHILE REDUCING THE POTENTIAL FOR DISINFECTION BYPRODUCT FORMATION. THE EXISTING WELLS AND CURRENT SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT WILL BE TAKEN OFFLINE AND USED ONLY AS AN EMERGENCY BACKUP SOURCE.SUBRECIPIENT:THE ACTIVITIES INCLUDES THE REHABILITATION OF THE FORMER SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT FROM A DIATOMACEOUS EARTH FILTRATION SYSTEM TO A MODERN PACKAGED FILTRATION SYSTEM.OUTCOMES:ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES INCLUDE, REDUCING THE NUMBER OF PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS OUT OF COMPLIANCE WITH HEALTH-BASED STANDARDS IN SMALL AND DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES, IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF DRINKING WATER TREATMENT PLANTS IN SMALL AND DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES; AND ASSURING THAT PUBLIC WATER SYSTEMS IN SMALL AND DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES PROVIDE THE CONSTITUENCY OF THE COMMUNITY WITH SAFE DRINKING WATER. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE RESIDENTS OF THE VILLAGE OF TUPPER LAKE.
