The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe a $311,546 Formula Grant under the Water Pollution Control State, Interstate, and Tribal Program Support program (CFDA 66.419) from October 1, 2021 to July 30, 2026. The funding will allow the Tribe to characterize and quantify potential metal contributions in two sections of the Mancos River, assess metal mobilization and suspended sediments, and synthesize water quality, sediment, and aquatic life data for the river. The products and services delivered through this award will provide the Tribe the ability to maintain, protect, and improve the water quality of rivers and other waterbodies within its jurisdiction, consistent with the goals of the EPA program to support state, tribal and interstate efforts to prevent and control surface and groundwater pollution.
