The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded a $4,419,600 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CFDA 66.458) capitalization grant to the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR). This Formula Grant funding will enable DANR to provide low-interest financing to numerous subrecipients for planning, design, and construction of eligible water quality improvement and protection projects across the state. The key activities under this grant are to establish and manage an effective comprehensive CWSRF program and maintain a self-sustaining revolving fund to improve and protect water quality and public health for citizens throughout South Dakota. As a subrecipient, the City of Sioux Falls will use a portion of the grant funds to extend a sanitary sewer trunk line to accommodate future growth and open 1,200 acres of land for development. This federal award will capitalize DANR's CWSRF and support critical water infrastructure projects statewide through September 2030.
