The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has been awarded a $373,090 federal Formula Grant from the Administration on Children Youth and Families (ACYF) under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP), CFDA 93.092. This three-year grant, effective October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2027, will support comprehensive sexual health education and youth development services for adolescents aged 10-19 and pregnant or parenting youth under 21 in Massachusetts. The grant funding will be used to provide medically accurate, culturally appropriate curricula that address both abstinence and contraception, while also incorporating at least three of six specified adulthood preparation subjects, including healthy relationships, adolescent development, financial literacy, parent-child communication, educational and career success, and healthy life skills. The goal of the program is to prevent teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV/AIDS through evidence-based educational interventions.
