The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $290,700 Formula Grant under the Water Pollution Control State, Interstate, and Tribal Program Support (CFDA 66.419) to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). The grant funds a comprehensive survey of the Texas coastline as part of the National Coastal Condition Assessment, a statistical survey of the coasts of the United States. TCEQ has subcontracted with the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) to provide field expertise and conduct water, physical habitat, and biological sampling at 61 randomly selected sites across the Texas coast. The project aims to produce a national report on the status of water quality in the nation's coasts, evaluate changes since the initial assessment in 2010, and support state coastal monitoring and assessment programs. The grant award period is from September 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.
