The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $18,233,000 Formula Grant under the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (CFDA 66.468) program to the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) to capitalize the state's DWSRF and fund projects addressing emerging contaminants in drinking water, with a focus on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The grant will enable IFA to provide low-interest loans and other financial assistance to municipalities and public water systems for eligible infrastructure improvements, such as water treatment facility upgrades, distribution system enhancements, and lead service line replacements. Additionally, a portion of the funding ($524,360) has been set aside for IFA's program administration, including salaries, benefits, and other expenses related to managing the DWSRF emerging contaminants loan program. The grant period runs from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028.
