The Department of State Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs provided a $150,000 cooperative agreement award under the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs federal grant program (CFDA 19.600) to Family Health International (FHI 360) from July 1, 2021 to October 31, 2022.
Through this award, FHI 360 will provide a customized version of their Teaching English as a Youth Language (TEYL) program and training to 200 Saudi Ministry of Education supervisors. The supervisors will then present and assist training of the TEYL program through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) to 6,000 English teachers in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, George Mason University will support the effort through a $150,000 sub-award to deliver an open online TEYL course for Saudi Arabia.
