The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) awarded a $186,472 Cooperative Agreement under the Cooperative Research Units (CFDA 15.812) program to Oregon State University (OSU) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of hydrologic connectivity and habitat availability in the Goose Lake Basin, Oregon. The project aims to: (1) evaluate habitat connectivity and predict stream flows by partitioning different sources of water contributing to baseflow, (2) forecast contemporary and future distributions of native and non-native fish under different climate scenarios, and (3) identify climate refugia to support native species and inform habitat restoration and enhancement. Key deliverables include a stream spatial network model, dynamic multispecies and multistate occupancy models, a ScienceBase data release, two annual reports, a final technical report, and at least two peer-reviewed journal articles. This research project, awarded from September 2024 to July 2027, is intended to support the information needs of federal and state fish, wildlife, and natural resource agencies.
