Susteon Inc. will receive $1.5 million under a Cooperative Agreement award from the Department of Energy Office of Fossil Energy to develop a novel direct air capture technology using high capacity structured sorbents. The award is funded through September 30, 2023.
The technology development work is supported by the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management's Fossil Energy Research and Development program (CFDA #81.089). This program seeks to minimize environmental impacts from fossil fuels through research, development, demonstration and deployment of technologies and approaches aimed at achieving net-zero emissions. Specifically, Susteon will conduct bench scale development of their direct air capture technology, which uses structured sorbents to capture and store carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. Successful completion of this work could lead to future deployment of the technology as a means to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels.
