The Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a $3.6 million Cooperative Agreement under the CFDA 81.117 Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Information Dissemination, Outreach, Training and Technical Analysis/Assistance program to Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Inc. (Neep). The award will enable Neep to convene 10 states, including Connecticut, Maine, and Texas, to examine and test strategies for overcoming geographic, financial, and outreach barriers to adopting and implementing energy code and efficiency programs in rural areas. The project, titled the National Rural Codes Collaborative (NRCC), aims to bridge the codes equity gap in rural communities across the nation by convening stakeholders, collecting data, mapping barriers and opportunities, developing intervention strategies, supporting implementation pilots, assessing results, and creating a national roadmap. The project will assist partner states and other states nationally in meeting energy savings, emissions reduction, and equity goals.
