The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) has been awarded a $6,891,389 Cooperative Agreement from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under the Public Transportation Innovation program (CFDA 20.530) to conduct research and deliver tools for the public transportation industry. The objectives of this five-year project include identifying transit research priorities, facilitating dialogue across stakeholders, and disseminating findings to improve public transportation practice and performance. As the secretariat for the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP), NAS will organize an annual solicitation of problem statements, convene expert project panels, and manage the selection and administration of research contracts. The project aims to commission studies, produce reports, and develop other resources that address a range of public transit concerns such as facilities, operations, maintenance, planning, and policy.
