The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes has awarded a $2,000,000 Cooperative Agreement under the Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program (CFDA 14.921) to the Pima Council On Aging, Inc., a non-profit organization in Tucson, Arizona. This 3-year award will enable the Pima Council On Aging to deliver home modification services to over 1,900 low-income senior homeowners in both urban and rural communities. The program focuses on providing low-cost, high-impact home modifications such as grab bars, railings, lever-handled fixtures, and adaptive equipment to reduce fall risks, improve accessibility, and allow older adults to safely "age in place" rather than move to assisted living facilities. A licensed occupational therapist will assess each client's needs and oversee the tailored home modifications to maximize their independence and participation in daily life activities.
