The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) of Louisiana is implementing Phase II of the Reggio Marsh Creation and Hydrologic Restoration Project (BS-0043) under a $38,266,912 Cooperative Agreement award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Geographic Programs - Coastal Wetlands Planning Protection and Restoration Act (CFDA 66.124) program. The project will create and nourish approximately 519 acres of marsh near the town of Reggio, Louisiana using sediment hydraulically dredged from Lake Lery. Interim training and containment dikes will be developed and gapped within three years to improve tidal exchange and estuarine organism access. A sediment retention terrace will also be constructed to protect existing marsh. This coastal restoration effort aims to enhance the region's defenses against hurricanes and flooding. The award has an effective date of September 1, 2025 and a target completion date of August 31, 2030. No subawards are included in this Cooperative Agreement.
