This Cooperative Agreement award, valued at $500,000.00 and granted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Brownfields Multipurpose, Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 66.818), will provide funding to Boone County, Illinois to conduct eligible assessment-related activities on brownfield sites. The key products and services to be delivered include:
Conducting 10 Phase I and 5 Phase II environmental site assessments, holding 7 community meetings, developing 3 site-specific cleanup plans/analysis of brownfield cleanup alternatives, and developing 4 planning documents to initiate brownfields revitalization. The recipient will also report on interim progress and final accomplishments by completing and submitting relevant portions of the Property Profile Form using EPA's Assessment, Cleanup and Redevelopment Exchange System (ACRES). The work under this agreement is anticipated to benefit the residents, business owners, and stakeholders in and near Boone County, Illinois. The award period is from July 1, 2025 through September 30, 2029.
