The Narragansett Indian Tribe received a $6,627,691 Cooperative Agreement award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CFDA 66.046) program. The award will fund the implementation of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction programs, policies, and measures identified in the Tribe's priority climate action plan. Key activities include conducting energy audits, implementing energy efficiency upgrades, installing solar photovoltaic systems and battery storage at Tribal facilities, and providing educational opportunities for Tribal members. The project aims to achieve significant cumulative GHG reductions of 39.32 million tonnes (MT) of CO2e annually by 2030 through energy efficiency, and 246.02 MT of CO2e annually beginning in 2029 through solar and battery installation. This will help improve air quality, reduce energy usage and costs, and increase energy resilience on the Narragansett Reservation and surrounding areas. No sub-awards are included in this Cooperative Agreement.
