This Cooperative Agreement award, provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (CFDA 66.615), provides $52,000,000 in funding to Health Resources in Action (HRIA) to manage and implement a comprehensive environmental justice grant program. HRIA will partner with two core partners, Alternatives for Community and the Environment (ACE) and Grassroots Fund, to administer the Thriving Communities Grantmaker (TCGM) program. The program will provide competitive and non-competitive subgrants ranging from $150,000 to $350,000 to support community-based organizations, environmental justice groups, nonprofits, and other eligible entities in implementing projects to address local environmental and public health challenges in EPA Region 1. Subgrants will fund three distinct phases of community readiness, including assessment, planning, and implementation. HRIA will redistribute 80% of the total award funds directly to communities through these subgrants, while the remaining 20% will be used for administration and closeout costs. The grant period runs from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027.
