The Virginia Department of Social Services Division of Finance received a $12,645,353 Title IV-E Prevention Program Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families. The grant provides funding for time-limited prevention services, including mental health, substance abuse, and in-home parent skill-based programs, for children and youth who are candidates for foster care, pregnant/parenting foster youth, and their parents/kin caregivers. The Division of Finance utilizes this funding to deliver an extensive array of services to Virginia residents, including cash assistance, food benefits, employment and training programs, child care subsidies, energy assistance, and support for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Division frequently partners with local government agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions to implement these programs at the community level through sub-awards.
