The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has awarded a $48,397,207.00 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to The Boeing Company to acquire the Next Generation Interceptor (NGAM) as an element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The purpose of this initial contract is to define design objectives, present trades to meet capabilities, and optimize trades to minimize cost, schedule, and technical risks. This is the first phase of a planned competitive product development effort, with up to three contracts contemplated but the government reserving the right to make fewer, more, or no awards. The contract does not have a set-aside designation and the anticipated completion date is March 31, 2015. As a major defense program, this acquisition supports the BMDS and Boeing's extensive experience in providing engineering, testing, production, and sustainment services for missile defense and other aerospace programs for the federal government.
